Windows XP will be retired very soon, but many users are still running it right now, despite all of Microsoft’s efforts to show everyone that such a decision is very risky.

In case you’re wondering how come that so many users prefer to stay on Windows XP, a research conducted by IT firm Spiceworks comes to set things straight.

While many users said that they didn’t have the time to move to another platform, 55 percent of them explained that money was a problem, mostly because other operating systems are very expensive and, in some cases, they require upgraded hardware.

Only 7 percent of the respondents said they were planning to move to Windows 8, with everybody else agreeing that Windows 7 is a much better choice because it boasts a much more familiar look, obviously with a Start Menu and everything else.
