Back in 2013 when Microsoft officially discontinued Hotmail and moved all users to Outlook.com, the company had to face a new wave of criticism coming from consumers who were disappointed with the new email service.

It turns out, however, that many users have actually moved on and are now pretty satisfied with Outlook.com, especially following Microsoft’s aggressive marketing strategy that promoted the service as the main alternative for Gmail.

The company yesterday celebrated Outlook.com’s one-year anniversary with a video posted on YouTube, thanking users for their support and promising to bring even more features to the service.

Surprisingly after the Hotmail craze, the majority of consumers reacted impressively well and many actually thanked Microsoft for bringing so many good features in Outlook.com.

Here are just a few comments posted by users on YouTube in the last 24 hours:

“Thank you Microsoft for trying to be better. I still believe in you and Outlook.com is one of the best features you brought to life.”

“Huge advocate for Outlook.com. Thanks for the awesome work.”

“Thank YOU, for the most amazing email web client in the world. Just love it.”

“Love Outlook so much. Being using since day one.”

“Excellent email service and cool ui why wouldn't I be, Gmail is just naff.”

Microsoft has indeed implemented several helpful features in Outlook.com lately, so it’s not at all surprising that users started to like it. And still, a research involving former Hotmail users who are still using Outlook.com would really be interesting to read, especially because many actually praised the simple interface and the basic features available in Hotmail.

In the meantime, Microsoft continues the fight against Gmail, so if you’re looking for a new email service to migrate from Google’s own email platform, you might want to have a look at Outlook.com.
