It appears that some owners of Lenovo IdeaPad A2109 tablet have been experiencing issues with the device, being unable to turn it on or charge it.

Writing on the official Lenovo Community page, uhexo explains.

“I bought an Ideatab a2109, now 11/2 month later my tablet is dead, it does not charge or start up, is there any way to do hard reset? I saw a few videos how to do to soft reset but the tablet needs to be running.”

The user is instructed by a Support Specialist to follow these steps.

“Step1: Please turn off the tablet.

Step2: Then press volume buttons Up and down & Power button at the same time to boot into recovery.

Step3: Use the volume + or Volume - to move, and power to choose, Please select "wipe cache” then choose "yes”, after done, choose "wipe data factory”, choose “yes".

Step4: after all done, reboot your system.”

However, the fix doesn't appear to work, as hjordis93 explains.

“Hello there! I have the same problem with my tablet. It doesn't open, I have already pressed the power button at the same time with the up-down volume buttons for 30", but still, it doesn't turn on.When it's connected on PC, it is detected as an APX device or something. When I press the power button it gets disconnected. If someone could help, I'd appreciate it”

Nevertheless, some workarounds were uncovered by forum users. In one of them, you have to slide up and lift the upper back cover, in order to look for a very small white hole. Stick a pen or any other item that fits in there, until you hear a click. Put the cover back on and it should work.

Madkat, on the other hand, tried charging the tablet with the same USB cable he uses for its HTC Desire and found the Lenovo slate was charging.

Lenovo apparently has acknowledged this is a pretty widespread problem and has its team investigating the matter. Users affected by the problem in the US are invited to help assist Lenovo and send in their devices, to help determine what’s causing the issue.
