Microsoft should really have a look at this comment

Windows XP support will come to an end in just a couple of months and despite all Microsoft’s efforts, approximately 29 percent of the desktop computers worldwide are still running it right now.

Even though it’s pretty obvious that Windows XP’s time has passed and users need to migrate to a newer platform, plenty of consumers out there ignore Microsoft’s call for upgrades, pretty much because XP was a very reliable operating system.

And still, there are many more factors that contribute to users’ decision to stick to Windows XP and a reader of the official Windows blog described them perfectly in a recent comment.

Miss Tia explains in a pretty decent way that the most important issue when it comes to switching from Windows XP to a newer operating system is the overall cost of the upgrade, as it often involves hardware improvements that are very expensive.

Here’s the comment in full and make sure you drop us a line on this after the jump:

“I have an XP computer and I cannot afford to upgrade. I cannot afford to buy Windows 7 (I have read horrible things about Windows 8 & 8.1 plus know friends with it who abhor it so I would get Windows 7 if I could afford it) nor could I afford a new computer.

“I guess Microsoft never once considered that many XP users simply do not have the money to upgrade? Plus the cost of the software is close to a new PC on sale, again, totally out of my financial reaches. I will continue using XP because 1) I can't afford an upgrade and 2) I LIKE IT.

“Stop trying to make a profit off people who simply can't afford things. How many people who financially struggle have been scared by the 'oh XP support is ending upgrade NOW' to actually shell out cash they can't afford to upgrade? This is rather despicable almost desperate corporate attempts at profiting.”
