Apple is using its iTunes platform to reach all users with a call to help Japan earthquake and tsunami victims by making a monetary donation to the American Red Cross.

Visitors of this iTunes page are encouraged to click the Donate button under the amount they wish to donate, with Apple ensuring that 100% of all proceeds will go to the American Red Cross.

The Mac maker ensures that all donors are aware of some facts, like the Red Cross’ inability to further acknowledge the donation, as iTunes does not pass their credentials over to the organization.

“Because iTunes is not sharing your personal information with the American Red Cross, the Red Cross is unable to further acknowledge your donation,” Apple stresses.

“You will receive an email receipt from the iTunes Store which will serve as your own acknowledgement of your donation,” the company explains.

It adds that “The donation will also appear on your credit card statement as a transaction with the iTunes Store,” while “iTunes Store credit cannot be used to make a donation.”

The company behind the iPhone further notes that “Your gift to the American Red Cross will support our disaster relief efforts to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific.”

“Your support will enable the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to victims of all disasters.”

Some contributions will be used to prepare for and serve victims of other disasters, should the donations exceed the American Red Cross expenses for a specific disaster, Apple also says.

Apple seems to be extremely eager to help Japanese victims of the recent earthquake.

On Apple Japan, the Mac maker has posted the following message:

”To those who have been affected by the earthquake and tsunami, we send sympathies from our heart. In this deep sadness, we are praying for the victims and their families.”
