Use Your Google Account to Login to Zoho

- As of yesterday, users can login to Zoho using their Google and Yahoo email accounts

By: Traian Teglet, Technology News Editor

For those of you that are Zoho users, the AdventNet web-based application has just released a new feature. You can now turn to the Zoho website and login using either one of your Google or Yahoo! accounts. The
announcement was made yesterday on the Zoho blogs and is available for anyone wanting to login to Zoho.

For those who aren't familiar with Zoho, here is a quick reminder. Zoho is a web-based application offering a suite of office tools including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, note-taking, wikis, CRM, project management, invoicing and other applications. The application works similarly to Google's Docs, which has also been created to provide users with an on-the-go alternative to word processing and other office activities. The Zoho applications have the power to read and write file formats used in Microsoft Office or OpenOffice.org.

The newly announced functionality will allow the Zoho and non-Zoho users to benefit from the web-based applications. It will also enhance the experience for the current users, as it will provide a more useful tool for file sharing. After logging to Zoho using your Google or Yahoo! email address, you have the possibility to import contacts from your local Google or Yahoo! contacts.

Users who already have registered to Zoho and have received a Zoho ID will be automatically logged to Zoho using their Yahoo! or Google accounts.

According to a poll carried on by a technology website, the Zoho application comes with more advantages over its Google Docs. This has led Zoho to allow Google users to benefit from their applications without the need of creating an additional account. The move is expected to increase the number of Zoho users and to improve the experience of current registered Zoho users.

Web-based applications like the one from Zoho and Google Docs can provide users with a viable choice to desktop-based applications.
