Aztec, Mayan and Yaquis are just some themes

Since people are already warming up to the idea of using a mobile phone or tablet to order their 3D printer around, the folks at Ideaz3D have created a special app for it.

The purpose of the app is rather more specific than “send this .STL file and sit back to wait.”

Instead, the little program, quite aptly called Ancestros 3D, will allow you to choose from a bunch of pieces of jewelry from ancient times.

You can search through bracelets, pendants, rings and other items that were once in use by Aztecs, Mayans and Yaquis people.

The app is modeled after the Ideaz3D storefront in Hermosillo (the capital of Sonora) and is available for free to everyone.

And it isn't restricted to mobile devices, but can be installed on PCs as well.

Three civilizations might not seem like much, but the number of different models is significant, and there are plans to add more cultures and styles soon, like Romans, Greeks, Vikings, Incas, Chinese, Egyptians, etc. The company just needs to raise a bit more cash first.

The central design, however, is the retro cuff bracelet in the photo above. An Aztec design. It's already very popular it seems.

Other intriguing items include a customizable necklace pendant and ring that can sync, thus forming a set.
