Immense gaming possibilities

Probably many of you bought a Nintendo Wii just to play games using the Wiimote. What would you think if I told you that you could use the Wiimote to play PC games? Yes, this is possible if we are to believe ohgizmo.com.

With less than two weeks since the Nintendo Wii launch, some PC fanboys got jealous of Wii users and decided to adapt the Wiimote for their favorite gaming machine. So they have improved a version of GlovePIE, software used to control applications using the Virtual Gloves. This new version of GlovePIE allegedly allows the Wiimote to control PC games.

As I don't own a Wii yet, I am unable to test this out, but maybe you can help and test it for me, and then let me know how it turns out. If this turns out to be true, we will see the Wiimote shortage getting bigger and bigger and eBay price skyrocketing.

I guess that PC use for the Wiimote is not that impossible as this Nintendo controller communicates wirelessly with the console (or PC in this case) via a short-range Bluetooth radio. It has to be used within 5 meters of the Wii sensor bar. Because of its symmetrical design, you can use the Wiimote with both hands (I wanted to use ambidextrously but I don't want to bore you with fancy words).

The Wiimote also has some internal memory, some 4KB of flash memory, mainly used to store data such as Mii avatar settings. For powering the Wiimote, you will need two AA batteries, which can last up to 60 hours.
