Hardcore players can freely select any skill for their character by enabling this option

Diablo 3 was finally released yesterday and, in-between many errors and connection problems, a few players have found an interesting option in the form of the Elective Mode. This basically allows them to select and use any skills they want, without having to choose from Blizzard’s pre-selected categories.

Diablo III marks the return of the dungeon crawling RPG series, but many older players have complained ever since the launch of the beta stage that its mechanics are dumbed down, especially the skills system, which only allows players to choose abilities from six pre-determined categories.

Thankfully, it seems that in the final game, a special option called Elective Mode has been added, which allows players to choose and equip any skill they’ve already unlocked.

This gives players a lot of freedom when it comes to equipping skills and will no doubt be the preferred choice for those who want to experiment with their character builds.

Will you enable the Elective Mode or are you content with Blizzard’s pre-determined categories in Diablo III?
