Two months after the release of the latest iteration of Microsoft’s instant messaging client, users have the opportunity to upgrade to a new version.
It appears that Windows Live Messenger 2011 Build 15.4.3508.1109 has been made available for download by the Redmond company.
The software giant silently released the update, and has yet to share any details related to the refresh with the public.
For the time being the only information on Windows Live Messenger 2011 Build 15.4.3508.1109, as well as the new release of Windows Live Essentials 2011, is coming from third-party
sources.
Reports indicate that Build 15.4.3508.1109 is the first QFE (Quick Fix Engineering) to be delivered to the latest version of Windows Live Messenger as well as to the
Windows Live Essentials suite.
In this context, customers should not be expecting all that much from the refresh. QFE releases are generally being used to deliver packages of bug fixes as opposite to resolving individual issues one by one.
Still, users that have already downloaded and started running Windows Live Messenger 2011 Build 15.4.3508.1109 are reporting no new features to the IM client.
Of course, the update is available for download through the
Windows Live Essentials 2011 page where users can grab the web installer.
At the same time, customers already running the instant messaging client will undoubtedly be prompted to upgrade to the latest version.
And since Microsoft has already started serving Windows Live Messenger along with the rest of the Essentials suite through Windows Update, Build 15.4.3508.1109 is also bound to make its way to users automatically through WU.
Microsoft released Windows Live Essentials 2011 to web at the start of October 2010 tying it to the latest iterations of Windows, including Windows 7 and Windows Vista, but not offering it for Windows XP.
