Staying connected whenever you want is one of the privileges of technology so Windows Live released the Windows Live Messenger app for iPhone, June 21st, and due to the success of the app and all the positive feedback, the first update for the Messenger iPhone app is now available.

Besides being compatible with iOS 4, there are several improvements like the Facebook chat integration, the addition of more languages and the introduction of a few features requested by the customers.

The beta version of Messenger for the PC had a support for chatting on Facebook added, a few weeks ago, and now it is time for the Facebook chat to be part of the Messenger app for the iPhone.

The software is quite smart and very intuitive: when you click on a friend, it figures out on which network the person is connected, so that you can chat from there – if a friend uses Facebook and Messenger but is signed in only on Facebook, you will be connected to the same network.

For all those that love to make decisions, by choosing the Send IM (Facebook) option on the slide-out menu on someone's profile picture, you can also choose to chat in Messenger vs. Facebook.

The Facebook chat feature is available in the United States, the UK, France, Germany, Brazil and Russia, so if you're in one of theses countries you can enable this from your profile page.

If you live in another country don't worry, Facebook chat will come to you too over time.

The second novelty comes in response to the top customer feedback requests and it's an easier way of managing your presence and view friends' statuses.

Also, for people who had a hard time finding the Sign out button, there is now a clear status button at the top-right of the Friends tab, for everybody to see.

There are those that have lots of friends and have a little trouble with this; for those there is now the option of seeing only online friends, or only your favorites or only those in other specific categories.

Finally, the third part of the update concerns the language; 31 new languages, to be more precise, were added so that everybody can chat with everybody in the language of their choice.

Thanks to this update, Messenger for iPhone is now available in Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Romanian, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.

Messenger for iPhone can be downloaded for free from the iTunes App Store.
