Over the past few days, Redmond-based software giant Microsoft released an updated Windows Phone application for its Windows 8 users, so as to provide them with a better experience when connecting their handsets to computers.

One of the features that the new application release brings along is the ability to transfer playlists and ringtones to a Windows Phone 8 device.

Furthermore, the software now provides users with the possibility to watch videos that have been recorded using the smartphone.

As WPCentral notes, these ringtones need to be in .m4r format and no larger than 30MB. Tracks protected with digital rights management cannot be used either. All these songs will appear on the device under Ringtones and Sounds in the Settings menu.
