Following the release of Power Pack 1 for Windows Home Server, Microsoft has undergone a process of updating the resources offered in conjunction with the product, including various examples of documentation and even the official website. Todd Headrick, the product planner for the Microsoft Windows Home Server, mentioned that the technical briefs for Windows Home Server had been refreshed with new information in order to reflect the introduction of Power Pack 1 which was launched on July 21, 2008.

“The technical briefs and other documents for Windows Home Server have been updated to incorporate new and changed functionality with Windows Home Server Power Pack 1. Technical Briefs are 'Level 200' documents designed for a more technical audience as they explain some of the inner-workings and technical and troubleshooting tips for Windows Home Server,” Headrick stated.

The Redmond company did not limit the documentation updating process to just the resources made available for end users. Microsoft is also offering new guides for developers, namely the Windows Home Server Developer Guidelines. Headrick explained that the new guidelines are set up to permit Add-ins builders to better take advantage of the Windows Home Server Software Development Kit (SDK) while putting together products tailored to the home server platform.

Jonas Svensson, the Community Program Manager for Windows Home Server, revealed that Microsoft had also updated the official website for the home server operating system. “We’ve begun a new series on the Windows Home Server web site - starting with Home Computer Backup and Restore - to show that using Windows Home Server really is as easy as 1, 2, 3,” Svensson stated.

Power Pack 1 for Windows Home Server is the equivalent of a Service Pack release for the “traditional” Windows client and server operating systems. The first Windows Home Server refresh is available for download here.
