14 DAY TRIAL // An updated version of Ovi Contacts is now available for download, the guys over at Nokia Beta Labs announced via a blog post. The Ovi Contacts 1.5 client comes with a series of tweaks, such as the inclusion of a pop-up note for incoming chat messages or the addition of new file types for sharing, like contact card & presentation, and it can be installed and used on S60 5th Edition mobile phones.
Ovi Contacts, as most of you might already know, offers users of a Nokia handset the possibility to share information on what they are doing or where they are with their friends. Moreover, it also enables them to see what their friends are doing or to check on their status messages. In other words, Ovi Contacts comes as an application meant to enable users stay in touch with the people that matter most for them, the same as Nokia Chat did.
The features list of the application includes: - Presence: Let your friends know if you are available, busy or on the phone. Check your friends' availability. - Enhanced presence: You can share - or hide - your favorite places with your friends. You can also let your friends know what you are listening to. - Chat: Get in touch with your friends with chat. Convey your messages with emotions and share your location on the map via chat.
According to the development team, the new version of the mobile application, Ovi Contacts 1.5, can be used on handsets like Nokia 6710 Navigator, Nokia 6760, Nokia 6790, Nokia E52, Nokia E55, Nokia E72, Nokia N86 8MP, Nokia 6730 Classic, Nokia 5800 Xpress Music (excluding PR1.0), Nokia X6, Nokia 5530 Xpress Music, Nokia 5230, Nokia N97, Nokia N97 mini.
However, the application has been previously tested on other devices too, and versions available for download should be compatible with S60 5th edition handsets, S60 3rd Edition (all Feature Packs) phones, Series 40 devices, and Maemo. Some of the smartphones already come with a localized client pre-installed or available for download.
