Updated Nokia Browser for Series 40 Presented on Video

Owners of Series 40 mobile phones can now enjoy a newly upgraded mobile browser on their devices, coming straight from the Nokia Beta Labs, namely the Nokia Browser, formerly known as the Ovi Browser.

The mobile application was updated to version 1.0.3 beta recently, and comes with a wide range of improvements that would make users rejoice.

According to the development team, some of the main enhancements the latest beta release comes with include:

- Keep browsing while your downloads continue in the background with the improved download manager. Control when you want to download through pause/resume and open downloaded files directly with one click.
- Share any page directly on Facebook and Twitter with one click using our new browser toolbar. The toolbar also helps you view foreign web sites through a useful translation feature. Plus more toolbar features will be coming in future updates.
- Long press an image to save it to your phone for offline viewing or use as wallpaper.
- The combined address and search bar makes browsing and searching even easier
- Localized start page for South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Vietnam, Pakistan (and more coming soon!)

For those out of the loop, we should note that Nokia released the mobile browser so as to provide the owners of a Series 40 device with web browsing features that are similar to those of higher-end devices.

The Nokia Browser was packed with Internet compression technology from the company, which can reduce data usage by up to 90 percent.

This translates into faster page loads, as well as less data charges. The application also comes with multiple view modes, so that users are able to see pages in their original format.
