Search engine company Google has just announced that mobile phone users owning a device powered by Apple's iPhone OS, Google's Android platform or Palm's webOS client (Palm Pre) are now able to enjoy an updated Google News offering. The new flavor of Google news for these handsets follows the previous release of a mobile-optimized version of Google News for devices running under Blackberry OS, Windows Mobile, and Symbian S60.

This new version provides the same richness and personalization on your phone as Google News provides on desktop. Our new homepage displays more stories, sources, and images while keeping a familiar look and feel. Also, you can now reach your favorite sections, discover new ones, find articles and play videos in fewer clicks. If you are an existing Google News reader on desktop, you will find that all of your personalizations are honored in this mobile version too,” Ankit “Chunky” Gupta and Alok Goel, Mobile News Team, state on a post on Google Mobile Blog.

There are 70 editions of Google News available at the moment, not to mention that users can enjoy it in a number of 29 languages. Those who would like to experience the new version of Google News should be able to do so by heading to http://news.google.com from the browser on their mobile phone. The offering will enable them to stay in touch with the latest news in areas of their interest no matter when and where they are.

According to the company, the new improved version of Google News is to be followed by a series of other updates in the near future, with all the above mentioned OS versions being affected. At the same time, the developing team from Google also says that the new improvements are based on the feed-back received from users and is aimed at enhancing the experience one has across devices and products.
