Owners of handsets running under Google's Android operating system have now at their disposal newly updated Google Books and Videos applications.

Both apps are available for download via the Android Market, and both of them have been upgraded only a few days ago to be aligned with the newly announced enhancements brought to Google+ for mobile.

One of the main new features that users will enjoy with the new application releases is the ability to +1 a book while reading it, or to +1 a video.

Google Books is the application that Google made available for Android handset users to provide them with access to a number of over 3 million eBooks while on the go.

The mobile software was updated with the said +1 feature, and also added in-book search and landscape mode for flowing text for those who use it on a mobile phone.

At the same time Google announced that the mobile application now offers better support for tablet PCs that boast 7-inch screens.

As for Videos, it was made available as the official video player for all movie rentals in the Android Market.

The software was also designed so as to provide users with fast access to their personal video collection, including to clops that have been recorded with a phone or a tablet.

The new flavor of the application comes along with better playback performance while streaming, and with a series of bug fixes as well.

Moreover, the application brings access to an HQ stream to handsets that run under Google's Android platform.

We should note that Videos is available only for devices that are powered by Android 2.2 or newer, and that the Google Books application was released for all Android 2.0 or newer devices.

Those who would like to try out any of the upgraded applications will find Videos available in the Android Market here, while Google Books will be downloadable from here. Both apps are free.
