Microsoft has made available a new update for its Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 products, namely Update Rollup 8, which was pushed to on-premises customers on May 3rd, 2012. The new software release is meant for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Server, Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook, Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Language Packs, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 E-mail Router, the company announced.
“This is a tested, cumulative set of updates for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011. It includes performance enhancements that are packaged together for easy deployment,” says Microsoft.
The new update arrives with support for Microsoft’s Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, and Windows XP operating systems and requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4 to be installed on the target computer.
Additionally, the company notes that the new software release can only be installed on computers running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 6.
Before starting the installation of this software release, customers will also need to install Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 7 (build 5.0.9690.2165), the Redmond-based company explains.
“This update rollup is available for all languages that are supported by Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011,” Microsoft also announced.
The new Update Rollup 8 contains the Dynamics CRM Q4 Service Update features that were released in Update Rollup 5 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011.
The update packs a wide range of fixes and improvements over previous versions, all of which are detailed in this
knowledge base article on Microsoft’s website.
Specific information on how to apply the new update can be found there as well, along with details on the build numbers and file names for this update rollup.
Users can also choose to install the new Update Rollup 8 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 automatically through Windows Update, yet they should take note on the fact that it will become available through this channel only on May 22nd, 2012.
“For online customers Infrastructure improvements are being made to CRM Online. Because of this, update rollups will not be applied to servers until the improvements are complete,” Microsoft explains.
“Through the System Notifications page for the system maintenance window, you will be notified of when your organization will be updated to the new infrastructure. The latest updates will be applied at that time.”
