Microsoft has addressed an issue with Resolves SharePoint Server 2010 for Internet Sites in which customers reported that they couldn’t access some of the product’s features, while areas of the solution were amputated in terms of functionality. According to the Redmond company, only users that installed SharePoint Server 2010 For Internet Sites - Enterprise by leveraging license keys offered through the Volume Licensing Service Center or Microsoft Partner Network before May 25, 2010 are affected.

A member of the SharePoint team underlined that only customers in the specific scenario noted above would need to take action in order to resolve the problems impacting SharePoint Server 2010 For Internet Sites – Enterprise. Other users of the latest iteration of SharePoint Server besides those described above, those running any trial or evaluation versions of the product, for example, don’t need to do anything.

“A new license key has since been provided for use with SharePoint Server 2010 For Internet Sites – Enterprise. To resolve this issue, you must uninstall SharePoint Server 2010 For Internet Sites from each server. Then, obtain the new SharePoint Server 2010 for Internet Sites – Enterprise key to reinstall SharePoint Server 2010 For Internet Sites on each server. Please note that to ensure proper functioning of the product, you must reinstall with the proper key if you are in this state, regardless of if you are seeing any specific symptoms listed above. Before doing so, it is recommended that you take a backup of your current environment to be certain that you have a safe copy of your data,” The SharePoint team representative added.

According to Microsoft, the following features are either missing entirely or offering only reduced functionality: Access Services, InfoPath Forms Services, Chart Web Parts, Excel Services, PerformancePoint Services and Visio Services. The Redmond company even published a Knowledge Base article detailing the problem and the steps needed to correct it.
