Windows 8 is still very much a work in progress and, with the development process still unfolding, bugs and various other issues are to be expected with the pre-release testing Builds that Microsoft puts together. Fortunately enough, the Redmond company is providing some support designed to help early adopters fix some of the problems they come across when testing the Developer Preview Build of the OS.

KB 2616150 for example comes to resolve two glitches that testers can stumble upon immediately after log on to a machine running Windows 8 Build 8102 Milestone 3 (M3).

In both cases, early adopters find it very hard to use the Windows 8 Start Screen properly, according to information supplied by the Redmond company.

“When you log on to a computer that is running Windows Developer Preview, a blank green screen appears. However, the start screen should be displayed,” Microsoft informs.

“When this issue occurs, you do not receive confirmation that you have successfully logged on to the computer or that the computer is ready for use. If you press the Windows logo key when this issue occurs, the start screen is dismissed and the Tiles are displayed. However, the title of the screen and some User Tiles are missing.”

The Redmond company stresses that the scenario described above only occurs when testers are running Windows 8 Developer Preview on a computer that has multiple monitors connected to it.

In addition to the problem already detailed here, another issue has been reported by Windows 8 testers.

“When you log on to a computer that is running Windows Developer Preview, you cannot use the keyboard to move through the Tile grid and select an application or Tile. When this issue occurs, you must use a mouse or a touchscreen to select a Tile,” Microsoft added.

KB 2616150 is available to early adopters running Windows 8 Developer Preview, but they’ll need to visit Microsoft Update in order to get it.
