Last week, I was telling you about how Microsoft planned to make a new update available to Windows Home Server, by the end of November, in order to introduce SSL Certificates. Well, the update in question has been served today, November 27, and is now available for download. Yet again, the Redmond company stressed out the fact that the refresh was completely planned and that there are no additional motives catalyzing the release, besides the integration of SSL Certificates within the operating system.

"An update package for Windows Home Server is now available. This update lets you obtain a trusted certificate for your home server during remote access configuration of your personalized domain. Additionally, this update resolves some reliability issues in remote access configuration, in home computer backup, in shared-folder functionality, and in server storage. Your personalized domain may resemble the following: your_name.homeserver.com", Microsoft informed.

There are some additional steps to perform once you have finished installing the update. Users may receive notifications pointing out to the updating of the domain configuration for Windows Home Server remote access. According to the Redmond company, this would be the case of the users that have already played around with Domain Name Setup Wizard in order to set up a personalized domain via their home server. Joel Sider, Sr. Product Manager, Windows Server PR Microsoft has published a complete tutorial on how to deal with the integration of the November update for Windows Home Server.

"After installing the November update, you will notice that your network health turns red on your home server. With the November update, you will get a trusted SSL certificate for your .HomeServer.com domain name. If you have already set up remote access, you will need to quickly unconfigure your existing domain name and re-run Setup to acquire an SSL certificate for your HomeServer.com domain name. This is a pretty simple process of turning off your Windows Live domain and turning it back on", Sider added.
