Update 4.0.3 Beta for .NET Framework 4 Now Available for Download

Microsoft has just made available for download a series of updates for the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 package, including new runtime files and design-time files for Visual Studio 2010 SP1, and an updated Multi-Targeting Pack.

The new update 4.0.3 Beta for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 package brings along a series new features complemented by some fixes for various bugs that users have signaled for the runtime.

This is a cumulative update meant to deliver only new runtime files for the Microsoft .NET Framework 4. It offers support for any application built for the .NET Framework 4.0.1 or the .NET Framework 4.0.2.

However, it does not offer support for apps built using pre-release flavors of the Microsoft .NET Framework 4. Developers are encouraged to update them to at least the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 RTM.

In addition to this update, Microsoft also pushed out updated design-time files for Visual Studio 2010 SP1, so as to bring it in line with the new Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0.3 Beta.

The new design time package, which is being detailed on Microsoft’s website here, will install the following individual packages:

- Update 4.0.3 Beta for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 – Runtime Update
- Multi-Targeting Pack for the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0.3 Beta
- Visual Studio 2010 SP1 Update for enabling workflow state machine designer.

With the Multi-Targeting Pack, developers can come up with applications for the Update 4.0.3 Beta for Microsoft .NET Framework through using Visual Studio 2010 SP1 or newer.

The package brings along support for the new APIs that were included in Update 4.0.3 Beta, such as new reference assemblies and IntelliSense files, along with a series of other supporting files. Additional details on the Multi-Targeting Pack are available here.
