Upcoming Mac Pro Case New Or Old

While there have been recent reports that
Apple had a new case planned for the upcoming Mac Pros, that was similar but still different from the old one. Now, both similar and different are not exactly precise terms, and leave a lot of room for speculating and interpretation. In a recent AppleInsider report, Kasper Jade once again touches upon the subject of the new cases.

It seems that the current Power Mac G5 enclosure is well suited for Apple's upcoming machines, because of the similarities in size and shape of the logic-boards. As such, it looks like Apple could very well be using the current cases for the new machines, just like they did with all their other models. Of course, this leaves the matter of the differences that were previously reported.

While it looks like the two cases will be very similar indeed, there are clear differences between them, according to AppleInsider sources. The most visible one would be the addition of a second optical disc drive slot on the face of the Mac Pro, and the repositioning of the power source. While these differences are indeed clear, the case design is still the same, and can hardly be considered a 'new' case.
