Since Amazon is going to enter the tablet market as well, it will need content and other features, and it looks like at least one unified communications server service will have full support for the product when the time comes.

The tablet market has been seeing new arrival for a while now, with Dell even deciding to unleash an extra model this year, not just the Streak.

Meanwhile, Amazon might be seeing the same potential in the slate segment as it did in the e-reader industry when it first released the Kindle.

The fact that Amazon will eventually release a 10-inch tablet is something that was revealed a while ago.

Until completion, it falls to the retailer to set up deals with service providers, as slates tend to not have much success unless there is enough content for them.

So far, though the price was disclosed ($399), no hardware details are known, but at least other things are being made clear.

One of them is the fact that there will be full support for the IceWarp unified communications server system.

“We are looking forward to testing this new exciting product and providing IceWarp customers with the option to use it as a part of our versatile and extremely secure business communications system,” says Jakub Klos, IceWarp chief technical oficer (CTO) and co-founder.

“IceWarp’s philosophy is not to dictate what device people should be using. We rapidly embrace any new communication gadget that improves today’s mobile worker productivity.”

Among other things, IceWarp can fully synchronize personal and public data like calendars, e-mails, contacts and other tasks, thanks to the ActiveSync capability.

“Future Amazon tablet users will be tapping rich Android Apps market, that delivers a plethora of solutions, such as Jabber (XMPP) for mobile Instant Messaging, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for mobile multi-media conferencing – all supported by IceWarp,” added Mr. Klos. “Paired with IceWarp, the tablet will deliver a full-fledged mobile UCC experience.”
