The Google Android craze is at its peak, now that some official information has surfaced on it. HTC has hurried to make some interesting new statements, promising to release up to three devices running on this new platform during next
year.

Now that Google made it clear that no gPhone will be released any time soon, it's time for leading handset producers to bear the mission of developing devices to run on the Android platform. The Open Platform Allinece gathers some of the greatest names when it comes to mobile phone developing, which should make it possible to see pretty impressive results in the near future.

The demo video that Google just presented to show off their operating system, showed both an average device and a touchscreen enabled one also using 3G. The differences between the two instances proved to be pretty great, as the more evolved phone allowed considerably more impressive applications to run on it, making the best of its key features.

HTC is one of the top smartphone developers and always relies on the most evolved technology and should make the best of the doors that the Android platform opens for them. Still, the company has been pretty fond of its own TouchFLO interface up to now and should be pretty reluctant to the thought of giving it up for another company's concept. Still, HTC CEO Peter Chou said that the company plans to release 2 or 3 Android-based handsets during next year. Moreover, it hinted towards work being made for a close release for one of these devices in the not too distant future.

HTC has taken part in the collaboration to develop the Android platform, aside from other important names, such as Qualcomm, Motorola and T-Mobile. In total, there are thirty-four companies, part of the Open Handset Alliance, looking to bring Android on as many handsets as possible and to improve it through various innovative applications. The new platform should become available starting with the second half of year 2008.
