Up to 12% Speed for the New ASUS Graphic Cards

- Overclocking with a push of a button

By: Ionut Arghire, Windows Editor

ASUS announced yesterday the release of two overclocking graphic cards based on AMD's dual RV670XT GPUs. The ASUS EAH3850 SMART OC/HTDI/1G allows users to gain up to 12% boost in speed under high-voltage, with the simple push of a button which is located just above the DVI output. The button is easy to access and allows users to turn to high-voltage mode only when needed and to save energy otherwise. The other card, ASUS EAH3870X2 TOP/G/3DHTI/1G, provides up to 6% increase in speed when in overclocking mode.

When turning ASUS EAH3850 SMART OC/HTDI/1G to high-voltage mode, the core speed of the GPU goes from 669MHz to 796MHz, while the memory
clock speeds up from 990MHz to 1100MHz. That simple push of a button gives you 12% performance boost over reference design cards. And no energy is wasted as it can be brought back to normal voltage through the same button. The 1GB memory size comes to complete the performance of the graphic card, allowing users to run the most demanding games without lag or stuttering at high resolutions.

ASUS took care of the temperature level as well. This new graphic card is cooled by the new specially designed cooling system from ASUS, the Glaciator Fansink. The system deserves its name entirely, as it can transfer the heat away from the GPU with a maximum of efficiency, keeping the temperature with 20°C lower than the reference design boards. The system is not only more effective, but also about 50% quieter than generic fansinks. In order to provide more system stability, ASUS EAH3850 SMART OC comes equipped with the Cross heatsink which can lower Power IC temperature with 11°C.

The other graphic card, ASUS EAH3870X2 TOP/G/3DHTI/1G, allows up to 6% performance boost. The GPU core speed can be boosted from 825MHz up to 851MHz, while memory clock speed can be increased from 900MHz to 945MHz. The overclocking capabilities of this graphic card and its DDR3 0.8ns memory modules are designed to enhance performance and heighten users' experience.

The ASUS EAH3870X2 TOP graphic card features two extra DVI outputs allowing four-display video output. Its dual fansinks are specially designed to be more effective than reference designs single ones, dissipating more heat away from the board and giving more stability and enhanced performance. Users can enjoy superb gaming experience with this ASUS GPU as well.

Both these new graphic cards are designed for DirectX10 gaming and high performance multimedia playback at best resolutions. And both are in line with ASUS's Rock Solid Quality promise. ASUS EAH3850 SMART OC features a luminant LED DVI output for easy connection in the dark and a stylish back sustainer which prevents the card from bending. ASUS EAH3870X2 TOP features an EMI shield to reduce 3~10dB EMI Interference and provide stable signal.

Also, the new adopted DIP Spring Chokes featured by these graphic cards lower temperature by 5 to 10°C in comparison to the traditional chokes, while the polymer power capacitors lower energy loss. This way, the stability is preserved even when the card is in overclocking mode, providing users with the high level experience they would expect.
