Unvanquished, a free, open-source first-person shooter combining real-time strategy elements with a futuristic and sci-fi setting, has just received another major update.

Even if Unvanquished is still in its Alpha stages, the developers have added a lot of new features and the game has become a lot more playable.

The Unvanquished Alpha 20 update has modified the concept of the game and the so-called “stages” have been removed, and replaced with upgrades.

“We've removed stages! In their place, upgrades, weapons and alien forms have unlock thresholds; the current state is shown in a bar along the lower edge of the game window, with markers indicating unlock (or re-lock) points,” reads the official announcement.

More details about this amazingly-looking game can be found on the official website. Keep in mind that this is a work in progress and bugs are bound to happen.
