Today, Pleasanton, California-based technology firm Biomedtrics Inc. has announced a few enhancements to its ditto glucose data system that works with iPhones via a free app. iWatch is rumored to include similar functionality, so this is the next best thing until Apple lifts the cloth off its revolutionary smartwatch.

The ditto device frees data from FDA-approved glucose meters and then syncs with Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones, tablets and laptops.

Its creators run a website, mydittolife.com, which is cloud-based and enables glucose data tracking from any Internet-enabled device.

Ditto is said to be the only Bluetooth 4.0 system that connects multiple compatible glucose meters to a mobile glucose logbook, in this case the free iPhone app, and a cloud-based site that is safe and easy to use.

Robert Englert, CEO of Biomedtrics, says “We offer a seamless approach to data transmission that integrates into a person's life.”

“The ditto device eliminates manual entries with wireless Bluetooth technology. You can also create a photo snapshot history of activities and food choices with the app. This makes the ditto device and app much more user friendly than other products in the market,” adds Englert.

Biomedtrics cites Dr. Jennifer Shine Dyer, a pediatric endocrinologist in private practice in Columbus Ohio, as saying that ditto is an “Interesting device that allows glucometers to become Bluetooth.”

An accomplished behavioral researcher and mobile health entrepreneur, Dr. Dyer says her patients “would really love to have a solution to connecting glucometer numbers in real time to a cloud platform!”

The ditto Glucose Logbook goes beyond its logging purposes to also offer a variety of ways to view your data, e-mail your glucose results to a doctor, add notes and pictures to your entries, etc.

“Once the data is downloaded, the results can be viewed directly on your smart phone or tablet as well as on the secure https://www.mydittolife.com website,” Biomedtrics Inc. explains.

Version 1.0.2 adds i-Sens CareSens N and NPOP Glucose Meters. Color coded entries allow users to quickly see which figures are above or below their range, and Diabetes sufferers can set their own ranges or use the default American Diabetes Association suggested one.

The cool Graph View displays a patient’s glucose data over a selected time frame, while the Calendar View lets the user see day-to-day patterns. Finally, the List View allows you to see daily entry details and add notes and pictures, and you can even create CSV reports of your results.

Interested parties can download the ditto Glucose Logbook app for free on any iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad with iOS 6.1 installed.
