Untethered iOS 5 Jailbreak 'Service' Promises Siri Unlock for iPhone 4

With news about Siri being hacked to do all kinds of tricks, I thought it would be appropriate to warn that none of the advertised jailbreak & unlock solutions out there will enable you to run the assistant on your older iPhone / iPod touch / iPad, no matter how much you want to believe them.

Not that they will provide a jailbreak or unlock to begin with. As I noted in the past, there are countless jailbreak scams out there to beware of, and unlockiphone-4s.net seems to be one of them.

Their “unlock & jailbreak” solution is cleverly advertised (not really) to dupe unwary customers who may have felt left out in the cold by Apple with the announcement that Siri was going to be an iPhone 4S exclusive.

The adverts posted by unlockiphone-4s.net also suggest that you get iCloud in the mix, though iCloud is a free iOS 5 component that you get anyway when installing a stock IPSW from Apple.

In fact, the service is advertised so ambiguously that any iPhone user may feel they can unlock more functionality with these tools, regardless of their model.

The site clearly states that their unnamed hack tool provides what is known as an “untethered jailbreak”. Needless to point out, this is the key tagline used to sell any fake iOS 5 jailbreak & unlock solution today - an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 is yet to be developed.

As I made it clear in the past, if the people at the iPhone Dev Team or Chronic Dev haven’t done it yet, don’t expect a proper jailbreak tool coming from a bunch of cash-hungry, flashy sites like this one.

Beware of sites trying to shove these ‘solutions’ down your throat. Reliable jailbreak & unlock tools are always free of charge, and no one will go out of their way to convince you to go rogue. It’s your choice, and your choice only.

So, if you’re carrying an iPhone 4 or a 3GS and you wish to jailbreak untethered or ‘unlock’ Siri using these tools, look the other way.

Also… “Unlock iPhone 4S Official Solution”? I mean, do they honestly think people will be tricked to believe this hack got Apple’s blessing?
