As the iPhone Dev Team is actively working on an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5, Musclenerd has fired away a few tweets confirming that a new Redsn0w release is on the way.

An hour ago, the hacker wrote on Twitter, “Upcoming redsn0w release makes both TinyUmbrella and Cydia blob saves useful for 5.0+ (1st verifies, then stitches).”

Blob saving allows not only to preserve the ability to unlock your iPhone on a newer iOS version, it also permits downgrading your firmware - a practice Apple doesn’t officially support. “For time being, please just use most recent TU to save 5.0.1 blob+APTicket...redsn0w will do the rest, should you need to restore,” Musclenerd added.

Asked whether the upcoming Redsn0w will be released for both Mac and Windows, Musclenerd swiftly replied: “yep, both OS X and Windows.”
