For those who enjoy rocking a jailbroken Apple TV under the latest firmware, the folks at fireCore have announced a new version of Seas0npass, the Apple TV jailbreak utility.

“Seas0nPass has been updated to support a tethered jailbreak of the new AppleTV 4.2 (iOS 4.3) software,” reads the announcement. “Big thanks to @nitoTV, @DjayB6, @p0sixninja and @msft_guy for help getting everything together.”

Thanks to Apple’s recent software update, Apple TV users get AirPlay for apps and websites, MLB.TV & NBA Game Time live streaming, Netflix Dolby Digital 5.1, and other minor improvements and fixes, Firecore notes.

As such, users have enough reasons to update, but if they do, they also lose their previous jailbreak.

Not to worry, fireCore says. Seas0npass version 0.7.2 (Build 56) is now available for download. The app provides an untethered jailbreak of the Apple TV iOS 4.2 / iOS 4.3 firmware.

For those wondering whether aTV Flash (black) Beta3 is compatible, fireCore says “For the most part yes. However, you may see a few oddities with text entry screens in plugins like Couch Surfer and nitoTV. These are relatively minor issues and should be a quick fix.”

The hackers also found some hardware decoding issues present in XBMC. They’re ironing out the bugs as you are reading these lines.

As usual, the updated Seas0npass is available at Seas0nPass.com where fireCore also hosts a comprehensive jailbreak guide.
