Sony has already announced plans to showcase new smartphones next month during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and some info on the company’s plans has just started to emerge. A few days ago, a group photo of Xperia handsets emerged on the Internet, allegedly showing some unreleased smartphones from Sony.

Today, we have some details on these devices, and things appear to be very encouraging for enthusiasts.

Apparently, one of the handsets in the photo is none other than the long rumored Xperia Nypon. Resembling the recently official Xperia S smartphone, the new device packs different hardware specifications.

The smartphone is said to include a NovaThor U8500 chipset and to rock a 4-inch qHD touchscreen Reality Display. Moreover, it should feature an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, capable of providing users with 1080p video recording capabilities.

The second unannounced Xperia smartphone, which can be seen in the photo attached to this article, is codenamed Kumquat, rumor has it.

The phone is said to include the same the NovaThor U8500 chipset, though it comes with a smaller panel on the front. It features a 3.5-inch FWVGA Reality Display, as well as a 5 megapixel photo snapper that can record videos in 720p resolution.

There is also the possibility that this device might actually be the already leaked Xperia Pepper, though it appears to be a bit smaller than that one.

What is certain at the moment is that Sony (for those out of the loop, we should note that Sony has taken over Sony Ericsson) does have in store some new, appealing smartphones for its users.

Next month, the company will unveil some more of them at the said event in Barcelona. These two smartphones might be included there, though some other new devices are also expected to emerge. Keep an eye on this space to learn more on them.
