Midway, as the publisher, and Epic Games, as the developer, are announcing that the PC version of the biggest update for Unreal Tournament 3 yet is now available for all those who have the game on the PC. The aptly named Titan Pack can be obtained through Steam, but be warned that it is possible for servers to be very busy at the moment, as all those who have the game are trying to get the update.

As you wait for the download of the free update to complete, take a look at what's new in the Titan Pack. There are 11 fresh multiplayer-oriented maps for all the game modes, from Deathmatch to Capture the Flag and Warfare. There are eight maps that have been released before, as part of the bonus pack for Unreal Tournament 3 and as part of the Xbox 360 version of the game. Also, two entirely new gameplay modes that are first seen in the Titan Pack. Greed is based on fighting for a series of control points, with the ebb and flow of conflict well simulated, while Betrayal is based on alliances that can shift at any point in the game.

Epic is offering new units as well. There's a fresh Stealthbender vehicle, which can go invisible to take an enemy by surprise and there are also two turrets, called the Eradicator and the Stinger. Players can also use a X-Ray Field, which vaporizes enemies and a Link Station, designed to repair vehicles.

One of the most interesting additions to Unreal Tournament 3 is the Titan Mutator, designed to allow players to become a Titan, a big, powerful and slow giant that focuses on firepower and has all the power up effects applied while active. The Titan Pack is rounded by the introduction of two new characters, Nova and Kana.

Epic is probably hoping that all the fresh offerings will make players get back into Unreal Tournament 3, which never reached the popularity of Unreal Tournament 2004.
