The app has received a new round of improvements recently

I've already told you that an unofficial Yahoo Messenger client is up for grabs for Windows 8.1 users and it might seem like Yahoo has absolutely no problem with it, despite the fact that it uses the name of its very own official app for Windows desktop.

Since the name is not an issue, the developing team behind the project continued work on it, so it recently rolled out a new update that fixes some issues with authorizing new buddies.

This means that this unofficial Yahoo Messenger client can provide you with even more options, just like the desktop version that belongs to Yahoo.

Aside from these improvements, the feature lineup remains the same, with options to send and receive files, send emoticons, choose an avatar, save chat history to a text file, write a status, and talk to your friends in invisible mode so no one would ever know that you're online.

The app supports both Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1, so in case you've purchased a Surface RT tablet running the latter, you can also download Yahoo Messenger and see what it's up to.

Just keep in mind that the 8.1 update is a must, so if you are running the core Windows 8 OS version, the app won't work.
