After the announcement stating the elimination of somewhat precisely-scheduled Catalyst driver releases, it looks like it has simply started pouring with AMD software. Less than a week ago, we noted a large number of drivers being spotted in the wild on various forums, betas and previews, and things seemed nice.

Now, with yet another beta Catalyst release leaking, one might suspect some sort of bitter disarray as far as the new driver generations are concerned. New software is a good idea at almost any time, since it's to be hoped that various applications and games will run better, smoother and with less corruption.

Nevertheless, computer users with less experience will surely be confused when facing the need to choose a specific driver; beyond any doubt, the heap of leaks, betas, previews, mods and so on could even confuse a more skilled user. Hopefully, this wave of releases will receive a better structured flow, much to the users' happiness.

With no hint as far as the changelog is concerned except for the fact that it only supports Windows 7, here are the few details about the Catalyst 12.7 Beta:

Driver version: 8.981.2.0000 8.981.2-120612a-140817E-ATI Catalyst: 12.7 CCC: 2012.0612.1301.21376 D3D: 9.14.10.0924 OGL: 6.14.10.11740 OCL: 10.0.938.1.

This driver is not an official one, so you'll be installing it at your own risk; here's the link.
