14 DAY TRIAL // When a mysterious good Samaritan decided to go on a tipping spree, with gratuities for waiters reaching astonishing amounts of $10,000 (€7,370), people from all over the world decided to track him down and unmask the elusive altruist.
The former PayPal executive, Jack Selby, has been allegedly spreading gigantic tips all over the US and Mexico in the name of Jesus. The man decided to document his altruistic deeds with an Instagram profile called “TipsForJesus” and posted photos with receipts stating amounts given to servers ranging from $500 (€368) to $10,000 (€7,370).
The former vice-president of the famous money transfer service was “doing the Lord's work one tip at a time.” He assured waiters that the amount was in fact real and he was not tricking them, then stamped the receipt, photographed them and posted them online for everyone to see.
The extravagant tipper claimed gratuities worth thousands of dollars across the country and the man rumored to be behind the now famous Instagram account posted on his personal Facebook account an article about “TipsForJesus.” Jack Selby has been known to take on all sorts of activities after leaving PayPal, including film production and venture capital.
Even if Mr. Selby hasn't revealed himself to be the mysterious tipper, Valley Wag seems to have linked the dots and stated that he is actually behind the gigantic tips making the headiness recently. Even if some even criticized the man for having some ulterior motive to do all of this, his Instagram account is filled with praises and congratulations.
The benevolent tipper has been spreading happiness to waiters since September, giving some lucky ones even more than 900 per cent of the bill. Photos of incredibly happy servers were all over his Instagram account, and no wonder, when they saw a tip sometimes reaching to a full month's pay, and even more for a lucky few.
