Nine months after its official launch on the market, Nokia Asha 300 goes on sale in the UK. Although the handset has been up for grab in the UK via Three and O2, the unlocked, SIM-free version of Asha 300 is now available for purchase.

UK-based retailer Unlocked-Mobiles has just added the Nokia Asha 300 to its portfolio. Customers can grab the unlocked, SIM-free version of the phone for only 85 GBP (135 USD or 110 EUR) outright.

Although not among the most popular Nokia phones in the UK, the Asha 300 was quite successful in emerging markets, such as India.

The Asha 300 is not just another cheap Nokia feature phone. The handset comes with the latest version of Nokia’s S40 user interface and packs a powerful 1 GHz single-core processor.

It is unusual for a cheap feature phone to be equipped with such a powerful CPU, but Nokia wanted to make this Asha series stand out from other handsets in its price range.

The Finnish company announced that Nokia Asha 300 would be available in Graphite, Night Shade, Gold, White Silver, Pink and Red colors, but Unlocked-Mobile apparently only sells the Graphite version.

Aside from the powerful processor, the Asha 300 sports a pretty good 5-megapixel rear camera that features fixed focus and video recording.

On the inside, the bar phone packs 140MB, 256MB of ROM and 128MB RAM. There’s also a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Nokia Asha 300 does not feature a secondary front-facing camera for video calls, but it does come with HSDPA (10.2 Mbps) and HSUPA (2 Mbps).

Last but not least, the phone’s 1100 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide up to 550 hours of standby time (597 hours in 3G mode) or up to 7 hours of talk time (4 hours in 3G mode).
