Nokia Lumia 1020, the 41-megapixel Windows Phone handset that went official about a year ago, is now available for purchase in the United States unlocked via the Microsoft Store.

The handset, already released in the country through wireless carriers out there, can be purchased SIM-free at only $549 (€403) through Microsoft’s online portal.

Those of you interested in the phone will find it listed on this page at Microsoft Store, with support for the networks of wireless carriers AT&T and T-Mobile.

“This unlocked phone can be activated with the purchase of a SIM card and used with either AT&T or T-Mobile. This phone is not compatible with CDMA carriers such as Verizon or Sprint,” Microsoft notes on its website.

Nokia Lumia 1020 arrives on shelves with all of the features and capabilities that have been already announced for it, starting with a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ touchscreen display capable of delivering a WXGA (1280 x 768 pixels) resolution.

Moreover, the smartphone sports a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

The 41-megapixel Pureview rear camera features Carl Zeiss Tessar lens, 6-lens optics, OIS, and full HD video recording capabilities, while being paired with a 1.2MP wide angle front camera for making video calls while on the go.

“Experience the quality of the Lumia 1020's 41-megapixel camera sensor, PureView technology, Optical Image Stabilization, and amazing high-resolution zoom. Take stunning pictures while exploring the world of photography with Nokia Pro Camera,” Microsoft notes.

Nokia Lumia 1020 also arrives on the market with 4G LTE connectivity, support for 3G networks, and with the usual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS receiver.

The specs list of this device also includes Dolby Digital Plus audio, along with a Li-Ion 2000mAh battery that can deliver up to 13 hours and 20 minutes of talk time, or up to 384 hours of standby time. The handset measures 130.4 x 71.4 x 10.4mm and weighs 158 grams.

As Microsoft states on its website, Nokia Lumia 1020 is also Windows Phone 8.1-ready, which means that it will receive an upgrade to the newer OS iteration as soon as the platform is officially released to the market.

“The popular Nokia Lumia 1020 now comes unlocked to give you the flexibility you need. It's the perfect solution whether you're an international traveler looking for reliable coverage in-country or someone who doesn't want to be tied to a contract,” Microsoft says.
