The first smartphone to be delivered with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at launch, Samsung Galaxy Nexus has finally made its debut in the United States earlier this month at Verizon Wireless.

Potential customers who prefer unlocked smartphones can purchase the Galaxy Nexus from various retailers across the country. However, one retailer in particular has a great deal on the smartphone.

Expansys USA is now selling the unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus for only $690 (535 EUR), which is about $30 (23 EUR) lower than the best deal on the smartphone.

The retailer seems to have more than 100 units in stock and also throws in free shipping for all customers who purchase the unlocked Galaxy Nexus.

The only downside is that this is the 16GB version, whereas Verizon’s Galaxy Nexus packs 32GB of internal memory.

This might be a serious problem for those who need large amounts of storage, especially that the Galaxy Nexus lacks a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Aside Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, Samsung Galaxy Nexus offers users a new zero shutter lag feature via its 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.

Obviously, this feature is available only via Android 4.0, but it still is nice to be able to use it. In addition, the smartphone also packs a secondary 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls.

The handset is equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual core TI OMAP 4460 CPU, which is complemented by a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

The phone’s 4.65-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen features oleophobic coating and boasts 728 x 1280 pixels resolution along with 16 million colors support.

In the connectivity front, Samsung Galaxy Nexus is an all-rounder. It offers users Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, GPS with A-GPS, Wi-Fi hotspot, DLNA function, and microUSB.
