In the future, it's possible that RIAA will pay for their every word

It's cool, the University of Wisconsin has finally got very pissed off on RIAA and shown them the middle finger in a "stop harassing us" manner which has made RIAA think twice before they spoke further more. Shortly, the UW told RIAA to bugger off and cease to cry under the university windows for the "bad wolf" students' names because they won't be made public.

RIAA, as expected, ranted and used their threats as usual; fortunately, this time (like in the Verizon file) the nasty words hit deaf ears. The University of Wisconsin ceased to listen to RIAA and officially stated that it will not disclose the name of the students RIAA BELIEVES to have infringed copyright laws and have illegally shared music files.

Quite a long-awaited and heart-warming behavior from UW: they replied that under no circumstances could a private organization like RIAA ever think of asking for private data (especially in such a kingly and commanding voice). UW made it even clearer and said that the only way such data could be handed to RIAA is by constriction of a subpoena.

RIAA went on and expressed their grief and concern for the way the school understands to erase all records of dynamic IPs after one month; in their desperation, RIAA even told the UW representatives that they should keep these records, even if for RIAA only. Now, "Isn't that cute? But it's wroooong!"

I bet the guys at UW had a terrible laugh as they received such crap from RIAA... they reiterated that they don't and won't give a flying f**k on such an obligation, especially when coming from them.

Now, I think that RIAA haven't completely lost their minds such as to sue the University of Wisconsin itself for not paying attention to their crap. Imagine that this would instantly become a war between RIAA and the rest of the cited universities; and maybe even those who have accepted RIAA's bullying would find strength to fight on the right side...

Finally, as it really looked like RIAA is a very slow and dumb learner, the University of Wisconsin grabbed for "the knife and butter" and told RIAA that next time they intend to waste the university's time for such matters there will be some money to be paid... basically, it was some sort of "bugger off, you pesky time-wasters! Find something better to do and stop wasting MY time!"

Way to go, Wisconsin! We're waiting for the first lawsuit against RIAA... in my humble opinion there isn't much longer until that day...
