Elvis Presley’s grandson, the 17-year-old boy of daughter Lisa Marie Presley with her first husband, is preparing to make his debut in the music industry. Showing that being related to The King always helps, even if one has never met him, Universal has already signed the aspiring hitmaker on a $5-million contract that will cover up to five albums released under the same label, the Daily Mail informs.

Reports of the deal are still sketchy at the moment, but word in the media has it that, despite the not-at-all-insignificant connection Benjamin Keough has with The King, his music will be nothing like his grandfather’s. However, while it is not yet known what kind of sound he’ll approach for his debut album, he has more than plenty of talent to make it happen, it is also being said. A proof of that would also be being signed with the world’s biggest label on the spot.

“The 17-year-old grandson of Elvis Presley has been offered a $5m record deal to make up to five albums. Benjamin has already started recording his first album – but says it will be very different in style to his grandfather's music, who died 15 years before he was born. Ben, the son of Michael Jackson’s ex-wife Lisa Marie, has been offered the deal by Universal, the world’s biggest record company.” the Mail informs.

“The music will be nothing like Elvis, nothing like him at all.” Benjamin himself is quoted as saying. He does not detail what it would be like, though. His rep too insists that whatever Benjamin strives to achieve on the music scene has little to do with whose grandson he is. “He’s a typical 17-year-old. He doesn’t get up before midday and then grunts at you.” Benjamin’s spokesperson says for the same publication.

As also noted above, Benjamin Keough is the son of Lisa Marie Presley and Danny Keough, also a musician. When the two got divorced, Lisa Marie moved on to marry Michael Jackson, in what was described as one of the biggest charades in showbiz, despite repeated denials from both as to the authenticity of their love and, implicitly, marriage. After Michael, Lisa Marie married Nicolas Cage, an avid Elvis Presley-memorabilia collector, whom she divorced just hours later. Lisa Marie is now married to guitarist and music producer Michael Lockwood.
