It’s happening: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt met and fell in love on the set of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” which came out in 2005, and they’re now getting ready to collaborate on another project again. This time, it will be a love story for which Universal Pictures has acquired worldwide rights.

Universal is also handling Angelina’s latest directorial debut, “Unbroken,” which is scheduled to be out in theaters in December this year, Variety reports.

News of this new film came out some time ago, starting from a half-confirmation Jolie offered to a very noisy reporter in May this year. Further details leaked in the press in July.

All the rumors were true: the film, “By the Sea,” is a love story shooting in Malta, starring Jolie and Pitt both. No word yet on whether they’ll be playing lovers or not, but we do know for a fact that Jolie penned the script and will also be directing the film.

My guess is they won’t play lovers because both are too determined to make the public forget about their larger-than-life public personas. Playing lovers would only remind fans of their private lives even more.

“I am very happy to continue my relationship with Donna and the entire Universal team as I finish ‘Unbroken’ and begin work on ‘By the Sea,’” Jolie says in a statement to the trade publication. “They have created a very special place for storytellers, and I look forward to the continued passion and support they have provided to me as a filmmaker.”
