While most of the world is launching distributed denial of service (DDOS) attacks against anti-piracy outfits, government institutions and representatives of the media industry holding them responsible for SOPA and the closure of Megaupload, in Brazil, a hacker called GhostOfThreads is defacing sites to prove a point.

Cyberwarnews provides a list of 28 sites that were defaced to post the hacker's message.

“If Megaupload is down....You Are Down Too!!!” wrote the hacker on each of the defaced sites.

Most of the targets are official sites of various artists, but the most important target is the Brazilian site of Universal Music.

At the time of writing, most of the websites still display the image and text posted by the hacker, Universal Music being taken down for maintenance.

In other parts of the world, HADOPI is also down for maintenance and the Warner Brothers Record Store is still being bombarded with large numbers of requests.
