Unity for PlayStation Mobile offers game creators the unprecedented opportunity to publish for the PlayStation Vita handheld gaming device for free.

Anyone on the PlayStation Mobile Developer Program can now publish all instances of Unity content to the PlayStation Store, targeting the PlayStation Vita, completely free of charge, also working with the free versions of Unity and Unity Pro.

Without the need for a dev kit or any other fees, this means that developing and deploying a game for the PlayStation Vita can be done without costing the studio a dime, which is a real boon for indie devs and will most likely result in a healthy injection of fresh experiences for the Vita, which is just what the platform needs.

The Unity for PlayStation Mobile build option also comes with In-App Purchase APIs, making it easy to deliver free-to-play content to the PlayStation Store, and content can now be distributed to the new entertainment system from Sony Computer Entertainment, the PlayStation TV.

PlayStation TV's main focus is the ability for Remote Play, offering a multi-room solution for gaming, making it easy to jump from to room to room and TV to TV.

Unity already offers the option to deploy to the PlayStation Vita, offering full native access to the PS Vita's features, with a ton of extras, but the build for PSM option is designed to offer a quick, easy and free method to develop for a standard retail Vita.
