Starting with Ubuntu 12.10, Unity Dash will also return answers from Amazon, according to the founder of Canonical, Mark Shuttleworth.

In a post on his personal blog, Mark Shuttleworth has probably annoyed a lot of people with a new feature it will be available starting with Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal).

In the present form, the Dash only returns local answers, but Canonical has decided to integrate Amazon results into the Unity Dash. This means that all the queries will also be made to the Amazon's website.

It's Canonical's hope that in time the Dash will be advanced enough to distinguish from various queries.

Mark Shuttleworth has tried to address some of the questions that are certain to be raised once this function will be implemented, but basically this will happen because Canonical feels it's a must.
