UnitCom has decided to make itself better known on the mobile personal computer market, in Japan at least, by revealing the LesanceNB S3431/L laptop.

The item is not a regular notebook, but an ultrabook, which means that it strives to be thin and light more than it does on the performance front, or at least as much.

That doesn't mean its hardware is weak, of course. UnitCom still managed to use an Intel Core i5-2467M central processing unit.

For those unaware, this chip is a dual-core CPU with four threads and a clock speed of 1.6 GHz, plus built-in graphics (Intel HD Graphics 3000). The Intel HM65 chipset supports this CPU.

Moving on, the LesanceNB S3431/L ultrabook boasts 4 GB of RAM (random access memory) and a hybrid storage drive.

That means that there are 500 GB of HDD (hard disk drive) storage available, plus 64 GB of SSD NAND Flash capacity (solid state drive).

Furthermore, UnitCom gave the ultrabook an SD / Memory Stick card reader, plus a 1.3-megapixel web camera and voice input support.

The list goes on with IEEE LAN 802.11b/g/n (Wi-Fi), Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0 ports (three), mini D-Sub and a battery (up to five hours). Oddly enough, there seems to be no mention of USB 3.0.

As for the display, it is a 14-inch LCD with a native resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels (HD).

UnitCom installed Microsoft's Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 32-bit / 64-bit operating system on the LesanceNB S3431/L.

Finally, as part of a special campaign, people who pre-order the newcomer will get a bonus in the form of a value pack composed of a router, web camera and purchase-with-purchase offer of Office Personal 2010. These things won't be free, but they will be cheaper than usual at least.

The price is of 59,980 yen, or $730 / 556 Euro, but shipments will only commence on March 24 this year (2012).
