Ericsson announced it will integrate its unified communications software with HP's BladeSystem platform in order to allow enterprises integrate their data and voice systems and provide access to business communications applications on any device, anytime and anywhere.

There is a long-standing cooperation between Ericsson and HP and this latest initiative comes in response to the continuous growing demand for solutions based on blade architecture.

"Integrating our solutions with the HP product line will streamline the sales process and give enterprises a complete offering for all their mobile communications needs," said Urban Gillstr?m, head of Ericsson's enterprise business.

Lately, more and more companies want to add mobility to their corporate communications, and that's what Ericsson's enterprise mobility solutions does: turns mobile devices into highly-featured extensions to the corporate communications network. With the BladeSystem from HP integrated, enterprises can benefit from cost-efficient server infrastructure and blade storage as a consolidated communications appliance that can host various integrated mobility-boosting applications. These application can enhance productivity, reduce costs and increase profitability.

"As customers look to advance their IT infrastructure by adding communications applications, HP is delivering solutions to make these enhancements both easy and cost effective", said Jim Ganthier, director of BladeSystem marketing, Enterprise Storage and Servers, HP. "The HP Solution Block for Ericsson Unified Communications allows customers of all sizes to easily deploy advanced telephony applications across their infrastructures."

HP's and Ericsson's products will be made interoperable with unified communications offerings from Microsoft (like Office Communications Server 2007), providing companies an accessible path towards mobilized, converged data and voice services. Mobile communications tend to become a very important business tool, as workers need remote access to their corporate communications network and business applications.

The mobile unified communications portfolio from Ericsson should be available from both HP and Ericsson starting 2008, with the HP BladeSystem c3000 and c7000 systems.
