The much rumored Uncharted movie adaptation might get a new director in the coming days, with rumors suggesting that Seth Gordon is set to take the reins of the project, after working on movies like King of Kong, Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief.

Deadline says that Sony Pictures Entertainment is currently in negotiations with the director and that an official announcement might be made before the end of the month.

Seth Gordon’s past creations suggest that he lacks the action pedigree that’s required for the Uncharted project, although his King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters documentary makes it clear that he loves the world of video games.

Initially the movie that is supposed to bring Nathan Drake to the big screen was directed by David O. Russell, who is best known for his work on The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.

Fans quickly turned against the Uncharted movie project after they heard that Mark Wahlberg would be the leading man and that the story was supposed to follow a family that performs daring heists.

Sony was also unconvinced and David O. Russell left saying that there were creative differences he was unable to overcome.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were then rumored to be working on the script, but the company finally settled on a story created by David Guggenheim, who also wrote Safe House.

The Uncharted movie does not have a leading actor at the moment, but producer Avi Arad is reportedly currently working to find a suitable Nathan Drake, although it’s hard to think of a choice that all fans would appreciate.

Video game developer Naughty Dog has confirmed that it is currently in the early stages of creating a new Uncharted game for the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

The story of the movie and that of the game will not be related.
