Video game hardware maker and publisher Sony unveils the winners of its own PlayStation Awards for this year, with titles like Resident Evil 6, Journey and Uncharted: Golden Abyss getting most of the recognition.

Sony has failed to offer a Platinum Prize because no PlayStation-branded video game has managed to sell more than 1 million units over the calendar year on the Japanese home market.

The Gold prize was picked up by 5 PS3 titles, but no Vita game has managed to make the list, which underlines the difficulties encountered by the newly introduced Sony handheld.

In order to compensate, Sony is offering a Special Prize, which is awarded to the top five selling games on the PlayStation Vita.

The full list of winners, according to Siliconera, includes:

Sony has repeatedly stated that it is satisfied with the performance of the Vita and that it currently has no plans to cut the price of the device in order to increase sales.

Sony is expected to introduce a successor for the PlayStation 3 during 2013, with an announcement made before E3 2013.
