Uncharted: Golden Abyss, the PlayStation Vita based spin-off from the well-known PlayStation series from Naughty Dog, has managed to get the top position in the United Kingdom video game chart for the week that ended on February 25.

The successful launch of the Vita-based game probably means that the new Sony handheld also performed well at retail and points to a solid first week performance for the new hardware.

Another PlayStation Vita-based video game, FIFA Football, created by EA Sports using pretty much the same engine that powers the home console versions, has managed to take second place in the chart while UFC Undisputed 3, the MMO-powered game from THQ that last week occupied the first position, is now relegated to third.

FIFA 12, the core-based football simulation from EA Sports, has taken over fourth position, dropping two places when compared to last week, while Rayman Origins has managed to make a surprising comeback to the top ten in order to occupy fifth place.

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, from SEGA, has landed in sixth place in the United Kingdom after coming in fourth during the previous seven-day interval, while the newly launched Syndicate from publisher Electronic Arts and developer Starbreeze has only managed to get seventh place during launch week.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, from Infinity Ward and Activision Blizzard, lies in eighth place after losing five positions to new launches, while Final Fantasy XIII-2, from Square Enix, has also dropped down three places to land in ninth.

The United Kingdom top ten is closed down by Battlefield 3, the first-person shooter from DICE and Electronic Arts.

Another PlayStation Vita game, Wipeout 2048, is just outside the top ten positions while The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, the Darkness II and Just Dance 3 are no longer part of the chart.
